• It is said that Horace Goldin (17 December 1873 – April 22, 1939) – famous magician in the beginning of 20th century and the inventor of the trick sawing a lady in half , was born in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania. Of course there remains a debate about the origin of the idea sawing a lady in half and that the first one to perform it in public was P. T. Selbit in 1921. • David Copperfield is said to be the most well paid magician in the world, his income is about 48 million dollars a year. • The fastest magician in the world is recognized Eldon D. Wigton. In1991 he performed 225 magic tricks in two minutes. • Rick Smith has the world record for card throwing; he threw the card 62 meters. • Will Rock (Vilius Rakauskas) a famous America magician was born in Lithuania and immigrated to USA at the age of five. Will Rock bought the Thurston show and made a success of it during the worst financial period of American history, the 1929-1939 Depression. • John Henry Anderson (1814–1874) a British magician had a stage name The Great Wizard of the North, he is said to be the firs one who performed „The Birth of a Rabbit“ - a famous trick who later became known as rabbit from the hat – a stereotype till our days of magic trick and magicians. |
